History of Reiki

Mikao Usui

Founder of Reiki was Mikao Usui, he called it originally Usui-Do.

Mikao Usui was born on August 15, 1865 in the village Taniai in the Yamagata District in Japan. His father was called Taneuji, the name of his Mother was Kawai.

He had a son Fuji and a daughter ( the name f the daughter is unknown for me at this time) with his wife Sadako.

He was very versatile vocationally. He was in the government service, a businessman and seen often in the presence of a politician. Some said he was the Bodyguard of the politician, others said he was his secretary.

The development of mental power and the spiritual growth were very important for him. Mr. Usui came from a buddhistic family and was a practicing Buddhist in no case he was Christian or Christian teacher, how often stated.

His interest in culture and his constant knowledge thirst were responsible for it that he, at a time where distances could not be traveled in such a easy way like today traveled very much.
Unfortunately he did not have much luck in the life despite his knowledge, his education and the outstanding personality.

Spiritual Japanese ask their spiritual teacher for advice.

Spiritual Japanese make, in the case of the personal pitch or if they want to begin a new period of life, a lonely Meditation.

During this phase, which takes approx. 3 weeks, they chamfered, meditate, sing and quote Mandras and/or pray to contact their spiritual.

The spiritual leader helps to find answers for difficult questions in the form of indications…. .
Mr. Usui went to meditate on the mountain Kurayama 21 days long to arrange his life new.
The days passed, and nothing happened.

Mr. Usui had by right put 21 small Stones, in order not to loose so the time feeling in front of him, fr every day one.
In the morning of the 21. day he prayed for an illuminating.

He had given up the hope that somewhat unusual would happen and reached for the last stone.
Suddenly he saw a light coming to him. It was the light of Reiki.

Mikao Usui had achieved a high mental condition. Not only by this strict Meditation, he trained himself further before already for many years by most diverse meditative, and other mirror-image-ritual ways and developed. Only like that it was possible that he could recognize which potential he received in Reiki. He recognized a spiritual healing method for spirit and body in Reiki.

Mikao Usui had now the answer for his question about the sense of his life.
He treated first his family and good friends to convince about the strength of Reiki.
He knew soon the fact that Reiki works on a long-term basis and went to some time into the begging city Kyoto, in order to help the beggars there.
He wanted to heal them to make them a better life possible.

For some time he remained to the Slums and treated many patient free of charge.
In the course of the time he saw the same old faces again in the beggar city.

He asked them, why they had not begun new lifes, and received the answer that working was too laborious, begs would be more simply around living costs to be denied.

Usui was disappointed.

He understood however that he treated only the illness, however he did not help the humans.
To change also the life circumstances positively he set up life rules, which have also today still validity.
Here are the western life rules wich were delivered by Mrs. Takata, the original life rules of Mikao Usui you´ll find likewise on my side under their own side:

Just for today, do not worry

Just for today, do not anger

Honor your parents, teachers and elders

Earn your living honestly

Show gratitude to everything

He moved somewhen to Tokyo.

Starting from this time, approx. 1922, Mikao Usui started training the of Reiki.

In the courses of the following years Mr. Usui trained some humans in Reiki.

At 09. March 1926 died Mikao Usui during a Reiki course at a heartattack.

Some of his pupils based after his death the untill this day in Japan active Usui Reiki society.
